Live studio performance by Great White
Thanks to Listener RuZZ for these awesome up close and personal pics of ZZ Top, Floggin Molly and Dan Akroyd!
When I first heard the lyrics "Gunter glieben glauchen globen," a vanilla-ice wannabe strolled out of his white picket fenced house in his suburban neighborhood & rolled out in his low-riding 1962 Red Impala. He then went on to almost get his a$$ kicked by a couple thugs after flashing a few gansta signs & somehow ended up at a pool party straight out of a rap video where girls in trashy bikinis danced like their a$$es were on fire.
Point being that to this day, every single time I hear that intro to "Rock of Ages" playing in the studio my first reaction is that we're playing Offspring. Every.Single.Time.
Now after watching the video below, the first thing I will think of is that Joe Elliott is almost wearing buttless jeans....holy booty holes Batman!
Today we kicked off "Bob & Coe's Worst 80's Videos" featuring 8 of the cheesiest videos from the 80's. Voting begins today (Monday) and goes through Sunday btw ;)
So immediately I say to Bob, "Oh, well then Jagger & Bowie's 'Dancing in the Streets' must be on that list and hands down that will win!" I admit, for a moment I felt like I had schooled my fellow rock n roll co-workers on an 80's video bracket and felt very proud of myself for offering such a perfect contribution to our list. But what the heck - it didn't make the list!!!
**Let me insert this random note - I didn't even know about this music video until a few weeks ago when I was watching Family Guy and they played it for some weird reason...my mouth dropped to the floor when I saw it. It was gold.**
Bob then continues to ask me, "So which video in the bracket do you think is the cheesiest?"
I answer honestly saying "Oh no idea, I don't know any of them..."
Out of nowhere Coe chimes in "School of Rock!!! There you go!!!"
So as I took a look at the 8 videos that made the cut, I realized there is this whole new world of these flamboyantly-cornball-cheesy 80's videos that I've never seen! And ohhh how good & cheesy they are! Enjoy & vote at the link below:
And of course....my tribute to cheesy 80's videos:
Holy cannoli all these musicians died at the age of 27?!!!
I am so excited to be 29 and not have to worry about turning 27, cuz seriously I would freak out. How would the world survive if Sarah Beebe died at the age of 27? Too young, too soon...the same applies to all of the above!
Coe was out this Tuesday, so I had to fill in for "You Can't Beat Coe" only this time it was "You CAN Beat Producer Sarah."
One of the questions was something like this - "What song was supposed to be part of a sound check but then became a big hit?"....or something along those lines. Anyways, one of the options was Iron Butterfly's "Innagadadavida" so of course I didn't even think twice about that option and picked all the others.
Turns out, that was the answer. I can't even pronounce that! I would never choose it! So there ya go, Innagadadavida is a real song with a really long, jacked up name & apparently is a really long song too...18 minutes or something? DAYUM!
True story. I've been asked to spell the Classic Rock names & song titles below and this is what happened:
Sarah, please spell Steppenwolf: S-T-E-P and W-O-L-F
Sarah, please spell Tush: T-O-O-S-H
Sarah, please spell Lyin Eyes: L-I-O-N E-Y-E-S
Sarah, please spell Jimi Henrdrix: J-I-M-M-Y H-E-N-D-R-I-C-K-S
Guess who knows how to spell all these names correctly now?!!
