Thank you for helping a fellow listener and human being out there in a most difficult time. You are a real hero. And don't forget the animals caught in this crossfire. Local Girls Softball team heads to Oklahoma to help...and they need YOUR HELP!
Thursday, May 23, 2013
San Diego Mystic Fastpitch Field Address: 3897 Mt. Acadia Boulevard San Diego, CA 92111
May 22, 2013
The San Diego Mystic 00 12U softball team is headed to Oklahoma City to play in the Triple Crown National tournament. The team will be leaving Thursday May 30th. What began as a softball trip has turned into a humanitarian trip. The devastating tornado that hit Moore, Oklahoma not only destroyed ...homes and businesses, but it took one of our own. A young softball player, Sydney Angle was tragically taken from her family. The San Diego Mystic 00 team will be making this trip, and playing our games, in her honor.
We are also raising money for her family as her family’s home was destroyed. We are accepting gift card donations or cash, and we will be donating every penny to this little girls’ memorial fund.
The softball community is a close knit one, and the loss of any player is like losing one of our own, and if we can help in a small way to assist this family rebuild its lives…then we are more than honored to do so.
The San Diego Mystic 00 team will be holding practice at the Mystic fields, 3897 Mt Acadia Ave, San Diego, 92117 on Friday May 24th from 5 to 7pm, Saturday May 25th from 8am to 11am, and Monday May 27th from 5 to 7pm. We will be accepting donations at these times to take to Oklahoma.
The Mystic family thanks you for your donation to this young athlete’s family, and it will be our honor to present any funds raised to them.
Thank you

Listener desperately needing work...and has resume right here!
Monday, May 20, 2013
Thank you so much for listening, I really appreciate it. I am currently working at Michael's, I was hired as seasonal help last October and was working 4 days a week but they cut me back to working only on Wednesday's that's why I am looking for more work during the rest of the week.
At Michael's I sweep and clean the floor, stock the shelves, take out the trash, put the cardboard in the compacter and sometimes help unload the delivery truck, when I was a caregiver for my parents I helped them with bathing and dressing, fixed all the meals, cleaned the house, did the laundry, helped my father transfer from his wheel chair, scheduled their doctor's appointment, managed the household bills and organized their daily medications. In 2011 I was at UEI College San Marcos and I did my Externship at Davies Eye Center working as an office assistant and my duties were filing and pulling patient charts, sending faxes, preparing outgoing mail, making xerox copies, and sometimes when we had patients in wheel chairs I would help them out to their cars after their appointments. I have attached my Resume for your consideration. Thank you again for being understanding. Yesterday I did apply at Walmart, AMC theater, & Edwards Cinemas so hopefully something will come through soon.
Sincerely,
William Wheeler :-)

Location: The Barking Lot
486 Raleigh Ave
El Cajon, CA 92020
Background:
The Barking Lot was founded in 2007 by Stacy Parmer, who saved her first foster pup, Patti Cake, and later, Raspberry, after receiving notice for its scheduled euthanasia. The Barking Lot rescues dogs at shelters whose lives are voluntarily up for euthanasia and/or abandoned throughout Southern California and Mexico. The Barking Lot’s main goal is to save each and every animal and provide love, care, and rehabilitation for these dogs. Since their inception, The Barking Lot has rescued over 2500 dogs.
Peakfinders, founded by Chris Heslin, is a locally based biking, running, and tri club. This collective of like-minded people realize that exercise is one of our true biological needs. Without it, we are only partially alive. We see exercise not only as an avenue to manage weight, but also to feel better, look better, accomplish amazing feats, meet new friends and most importantly. . .HAVE FUN!
The partnership between The Barking Lot and Peakfinders serves many purposes including, 1) brining awareness to rescue dogs in search of new homes
2) providing exercise and mental stimulation to rescue pups and
3) promoting an active and healthy lifestyle amongst people.
Event Logistics:
The Walk A Dog In Need event is free to the public. The community is encouraged to come support rescue dogs by walking them around a 0.8 mile circuit. Throughout the circuit there will be stations where the dog, and the person, can work on canine skills such as “Sit, “Down,” and leash manners. Station leaders will be dog trainers from Pawtopia. True K9 Training will be providing a skills demonstration
Volunteers will register upon arrival and can request the size and type of dog(s) they would like to walk. The larger and more energetic pups will get a few go-rounds on the circuit.
In addition to the walk, The Barking Lot is running a Kennel Fundraising campaign. The goal is to raise $10,000 toward the purchase new kennels for our puppy wing. All donations and game proceeds will go toward the new kennels from Mason Company.
Following the walk, the festivities begin for the volunteers at the after party. Beer is provided complements of Mission Brewery. Chop Soo-ey will be on hand for food purchases. There will be a variety of games, photo opportunities and music.
l The Barking Lot is a San Diego-based 501c(3) non-profit organization that rescues dogs at shelters whose lives are voluntarily up for euthanasia and/or abandoned throughout Southern California and Mexico.

Help Emergency Animal Rescue prepare for wildfire, because they could save YOUR animal (s)!!
Thursday, May 9, 2013
Kgbers, we all know the panic that sets in with wildfire season. Many of our listeners have pets large and small and when disaster hits...my friends at Emergency Animal Rescue head into danger to help your animals...and all animals. Please help them prepare!!!!! Our heroes!!!
Hello,
I'm writing to let you know about our 'Wildland Fire Hay Fund'.
The “Fund” will allow us to be able to access hay during the next wildland fire here in San Diego. Follow the link below and donate to help us feed animals that we have evacuated from the next devastating Wildland fire we have. And we will have another one. Have you been watching the news lately? There have already been several fires. It’s just a matter of time, which seems to be running short given the pitiful amount of precipitation we’ve had lately and the amount of dead vegetation in the back country.
So please, consider donating enough for a bale or two. If not, then at least keep us in your thoughts.
Listeners needs gardening help! Maybe KGBER needs the income...!
Tuesday, May 7, 2013
Hi Coe,
I don’t know if this even qualifies for your list, bit I am going to write anyway. I am in need of a gardener to just weed my front yard. Both my husband & I have multiple joint replacements & my oldest son who helps us with the rest of the yard work has back issues, weeding the front yard in the biggest problem for us.
I can only afford to pay someone $50.00 a month to do this for me. It’s not a very big area, we can maintain the rest of the yard, but because of our health issues, we really could use some help with just keeping the weeding done in the front yard. We’re tackling the back yard little by little & we seem to be able to be doing “ok” but since the front is more visible this is our main concern.

PLEASE HELP WILDLIFE IN AFRICA ON THE VERGE OF EXTINCTION
Friday, April 19, 2013
Please go to the nan KGB page and scroll down to read about two local heroes trying to help in the fight in saving magnificent animals in Africa FROM BEING WIPED OFF THE EARTH...and you can listen to the full interview we aired on Thursday with the Wallaces of ZIKOMO SAFARI! WWW.ZIKOMOSAFARI.COM
WE ALL CAN BE HEROES ...IT JUST TAKES ONE TO START THE FIRE FOR GOOD!!!!
Read this wonderful letter from David & Victoria Wallace, a couple of San Diegans who are on a mission to preserve wild life in Zambia as well as provide employment for the people over there. If you are moved to help as I am, please email the Zikomo Safari Park at SALES1@zikomosafari.com.
"I just heard this morning about a couple of listeners who rescued those dogs from the pound. As my wife and I are huge animal lovers, that story was so wonderful. My wife and I live in East county (Dulzura) and we have 3 horses, 3 dogs, 3 cats, and 5 birds. I, like you, am a huge Led Zeppelin fan. I listen to your show every morning on the way to work.
Anyway, the reason I'm writing you is that my wife and I have a photographic safari camp in Zambia. We got the idea after going on a couple of safaris.
We thought we would open one to help preserve the wildlife and give people over there employment. After we obtained the land from the local chief, we started building. What we didn't know was there was a hunting camp down the river from us. The owner was a very powerful man in Zambia who didn't want us there because he used to kill elephants on our land as they crossed the river from the national park to the game management area. He even sent a truck once loaded with about a dozen men armed with AK-47's and warned us to stop building. We could have given up and left but we knew someone had to stop the slaughter. So, we fought him for about 5 years in the court and the community. We finally got our Title Deeds (99 year lease) in 2011. He was so angry he told off one of the Ministry officials and they fined him $100,000 and took away his concession. Another good thing that happened is that the new President of Zambia has started a trophy hunting ban in Zambia for 5 years. He wants to see if camps like ours will bring in enough revenue so he can make it a permanent ban.
Unfortunately for us, fighting him really burned through the money to finish the camp. We did open in 2012, but since we are new and not well known yet, we didn't get much business. We are going to open in May, but we still need some more revenue to finish up a few things. We are currently on Crowdfunder to raise some capital, but it's been slow. Maybe you could share this story with your listeners. They would only have to donate $5 minimum. If you could it would be highly appreciated.
Spread the Message To Save Bieber's Monkey From German Shelter
Tuesday, April 16, 2013
A listener sent me the following email to bring awareness to the fact that Justin Bieber's spiral downward is not only affecting himsef, but his mokey that was detainined in Germany is suffering major consequences after being locked in a cage and seperated from human contact. The point of this message is to simply spread awareness and spread the message. Please share on yo uFaceBook, Twitter etc...
"I have had such a hard time sleeping since I saw on the news couple weeks back and googled status on Justin Beiber Monkey that he took to the UK and monkey confiscated and put in animal shelter in Germany. If you google status his monkey you will see poor thing is not doing well, go figure. Once a monkey has had human touch, interaction and love they miss that, they are so much like humans.
Can you help me spread the word, need to get on Facebook walls, need to get visibility (MEDIA COVERAGE) and a wonderful rescue to get this poor monkey out as it doesn't look like Justin Beiber plans to. As the news stations put out the word originally, if anyone has connections to news, TMZ we need to spread the word so someone will get the monkey.
Justin should get the monkey, it would make him a hero in the eyes of his fans, but so far status just shows monkey at shelter in Germany and bot doing well. If you google you can include links in the networking. I'm only on mobile phone so unable to copy the various links.
Let's get people involved and fast for this poor monkey. I will not sleep well until I know this sweet baby is safe and loved again."
Can You Help Rescue This Sweet Girl From High Kill Shelter?

$25 from Tammy Hilo to reputable rescue
LOOK AT THE PHOTO OF GORGEOUS LOBA BEING DUMPED AT THE HIGH-KILL NORTH CENTRAL SHELTER (L.A., CA). After 7 years in a home the owner claimed to have allergies. Loba knows sit, she walks OK on a leash and she can't believe her people did this to her. Loba lived outdoors but wouldn't it be great for her to be welcomed inside...to be part of a family, to have a soft bed and people who love her. The owner complained that Loba tried to escape when the gate was left open...Really? What a bad dog to do something like that (I'm being sarcastic...don't freak). Maybe being ignored in the yard got to Loba, maybe a joy ride in the streets seemed better than life at home, maybe Loba just wanted some attention. Loba is initially cautious but warms up once she knows you mean her no harm. Please SHARE this betrayed dog and help give her the life we'd love her to have.
LOBA - ID#A0866119
My name is Loba and I am an unaltered female, white and brown Siberian Husky.
The shelter thinks I am about 7 years old.
I have been at the shelter since Mar 23, 2013.

First Tehyathon 5k Fundraiser, Inspiration Walk, and Celebration Concert April 21
This event is inspired by local San Diego teen Tehya, a Make-A-Wish recipient who lives with the challenges of Spina Bifida.
San Diego, Calif. (March 14, 2013) Cathedral Catholic High School, Outreach Through Dance, Feeding the Soul Foundation, and Make-A-Wish San Diego are proud to support Tehya Foussat as she fulfills her vision to create a day of inspiration and celebration with Tehyathon, a 5K Fundraiser, an Inspiration Walk, and a Celebration Concert on Sunday, April 21.
Date: Sunday, April 21 doors open at 1pm / Sporting Event starts at 2pm / Concert ends at 8pm
Location: Cathedral Catholic High School, 5555 Del Mar Heights Road, San Diego, CA 92130
“When Make-A-Wish San Diego asked me what I wanted, it was easy to answer, I want to celebrate the people who have helped Tehyathon and to inspire others to make a difference in their communities,” said Tehya. “No matter what circumstances you are facing, you always have the choice to inspire people and to celebrate the wonderful things that are happening.”
Tehyathon, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded by Tehya and her former teacher, Martin Reisert. Tehyathon was formed with the purpose of raising funds to increase awareness of a serious birth condition called Spina Bifida. The organization offers support to patients and their families who live with the challenges of Spina Bifida and its related conditions. In addition, they also focus on serving those in need with its Tenderness Totes Program.
The event will feature Adaptive Sporting Events, including wheelchair races for our friends with medical or mobility challenges – celebrating and commemorating them as Honorary Tehyathon Athletes for the Day. There will be a mini-carnival and a jumper for the kids, vendor booths, a variety of food trucks and snack booths available during the festivities. There will be lots of entertainment on the field during the races.
The day will conclude by honoring the Tehyathon Athletes, volunteers, and donors with a Celebration Concert produced by Feeding the Soul Foundation and Outreach Through Dance, featuring inspirational speakers, singers from the San Diego music scene, high-energy hip-hop and contemporary dancers, and other performing artists.
Charitable contributions and donations received throughout the day will benefit the Tehyathon Tenderness TotesProgram, which are "survival packs" for the homeless and anyone in need. Generous donations will allow Tehyathon to create and distribute more Totes within the community.
With past support from our Athletes and Donors, Tehyathon has distributed over 600 Tenderness Totes to those who need them most. Our goal is to give away over 1000 totes by June 1, 2013.
About Tehya: Tehya was born with the most severe form of Spina Bifida. Lipomyelomeningocele occurs when the spinal cord is exposed through an opening in the spine, resulting in partial or complete paralysis of parts of the body. The paralysis may be so severe that the affected individual is unable to walk, and he or she may have other issues affecting neurological function.
Tehya's parents were told before she was born that she might have little to no quality of life. To that they replied, "Well thank goodness you are not in charge of her quality of life!"
So she he grew up without boundaries and there was no activity or sport that was beyond her reach. Soon the girl who wasn't supposed to walk became a competitive cheerleader, gymnast and swimmer. Even though she's had multiple surgeries throughout her life, she thrived in her active environment and with the patient support of her gymnastics coach, she was able to tumble and cheer with her teammates.
A few months after her third spinal cord surgery, her medical condition mysteriously deteriorated and she started to lose function. She was no longer able to walk or run, and she suffered from debilitating headaches, neck and back pain, and several other neurological deficits. She was no longer able to attend school regularly and was tutored at home. Once active with friends and after-school activities, she spent her days at doctor appointments and in bed with severe pain.
After months of traveling and endless hours of research, Tehya and her parents were finally able to get the answers that they needed from a specialist in New York. The recommendation was for Tehya to undergo a radical spinal cord surgery, but Tehya and her family decided to try alternative therapies before contemplating another serious operation.
Through all of this, Tehya worked diligently through her pain, and although she missed many days of school due to severe pain and illness, she was able to maintain her 4.0 grade point average. She went on to run for ASB President and won the honor to represent her school.
As the year passed, she continued to struggle through painful days, but she made it through and actually received two awards at her graduation ceremony.
She received the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence which is given to students who are able to maintain a 4.0 GPA. She also received the esteemed "Heart of Our School Award", which is given to two students each year. This award recognized Tehya as someone who consistently displayed the "Six Pillars of Character" - Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.
As you can see, although Tehya has faced many obstacles in her life, she does not let those challenges stop her from enjoying herself, inspiring others, and participating in many activities. She hopes to make a difference in this world with her positive, uplifting attitude.
She found her strength when it was so difficult to continue; she used her talents to compensate for her medical condition, and she is sharing her gifts to support the Spina Bifida community and provide loving care to the homeless and those in need.

KGBERS...RALLY CRY FOR GRANDPA TAKING CARE OF HIS AUTISTIC GRANDSON!
Hi Coe,
I'm a loyal listener and I'm aware that Coe's list does a lot to help people in need. I never thought I'd be one of those people who would need your help but I do. I missed two weeks of work recently due to being sick and my bills have fallen behind. I am self supporting, 58 year old man who takes care of my grandson with autism after school and 3 nights a week. I only make $10/hr. My bills for April are coming due and I'm feeling very over whelmed. I have rent of $950 due, $261 utility bill and my car registration is due in April of $78. I have already received a cut off notice on my SDG&E, which will be shut off Wed April 3rd. I need help with my electric and/or registration. This isn't just for me but it is to keep my grandson taken care of as well. Without a car I can't pick him up at school and obviously I need utilities in order to prepare his food etc. Is there any chance you can help me. I'd be deeply appreciative.
Thank you. p.s I don't have my own computer so if you need to contact me please call my cell at 619-633-4545 or my home number at 619-334-5314. Victor Dakin
URGENT!!!!!!!! DIES TODAY IF NO ONE SAVES!!!!!!!!!
KGBERS...when you watch the video of this angel, you will see how it would be our loss NOT to have this baby spreading kisses in a loving home AND DYING AT THE END OF A NEEDLE ON A COLDS TABLE. PLEASE.. YOU ARE MY HERO..MAKE A DIFFERENCE. CALL CONTACTS.. and i can help with arranging trans. and help with some$$ for vet for this lil punkin's cough. THIS AFTERNOON AT 4 IS THE END..:0(
INFO:
This insanely cute dog looks like a puppy but is closer to 2 years old according to the shelter's estimate. So Izzy will appear to be a 35 lb puppy for the rest of her life.
A potential adopter passed on her because Izzy has kennel cough. There should be a long list of others waiting to take this little gem of a dog, but there isn't.
Izzy shows no reaction to aggressive dogs in the kennels. I don't have a breakdown on her test results, but the evaluator described her as being "very friendly" and "adorable." Below is some video of her in action - I'm guessing this officer would describe her the same way?
If you can rescue or adopt Izzy, please contact (robevanu@gmail.com). If you can't do either but can pledge money to help a rescue save her, that could make all the difference, and let me know. I'll start off by pledging $20.
OR call Jessica who is willing to help with transportation!!!!
Another Amazing Success from Coe's List! We LOVE Our Listeners!!!
Thursday, March 28, 2013
Look at the sweet faces of these 2 dogs who are on their way home after being saved from an extremely high kill shelter in San Bernadino!!! We can't say thank you enough to our listeners Keith & Jamie. Here is a letter from Keith that we wanted to share with you in case anybody can adopt or foster these 2 sweet dogs....
They are alive and safe, made it there an hour before they were going to be euthanized. We gave them both baths, fresh food and water, new harnesses/leashes and pillows for their crates when we are at work. THEY ARE GREAT DOGS! So sweet and so kind. They get along perfectly so far with our two other dogs and three cats. Unfortunately, there are so many more dogs from that shelter that won't make it out alive. It really is sad to see. A lot of them were such nice dogs that just needed a home and someone to love them.
The lady at the front desk working at the shelter said she received A TON! of emails from your listeners inquiring about the dogs. As I mentioned yesterday we are only able to foster them, if you get any emails/phone calls from people interested in owning them please pass our contact information onto them (maybe put my info on their page on Coe's list idk). Or maybe if you know a foster who can take two more dogs who is better equipped please feel free give them our contact info as well. I am just glad they will have another chance at life.

Listener Susan with important info if you need DENTAL HELP!!
Monday, March 25, 2013
Our listener Susan wanted me to pass this along if you have dental problems and cannot afford it...
I'm recovering from my Dental Surgery I had on Friday. I had reconstructive surgery on my upper tooth that took 3 1/2 hrs to repair. I was very fortunate that one of the professors who specializes in reconstructive dental surgery repaired my tooth, my bone and my gumline. He is a dental genius and has a practice in Las Vegas. The cost for that surgery was over $15,000 dollars. I also had 2 dental implants with a cost of 5,000 dollars. I didnt pay a penny for any dental work I received. I feel very blessed and have much love and respect for the team of Dentists that took care of myself and 10 other people on Friday. I would advise anyone who needs reconstructive dental surgery or implants to contact me. All Ct scans, extractions, implants and xrays are free. There is no cost for any of the dental work. I feel so blessed that I met Dr Hurst!
He's lovely and he's a wonderful man. My number is 619-655-6485.

I am representing my 12 year old daughter's fastpitch travelball team Mystic '00 located in the Clairemont Mesa West area of San Diego. We are currently fundraising to help send our 13 girls who qualified for the 2013 Triple Crown Nationals in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, May 31 thru June 4 during the NCAA Womens College World Series. CAN YOU HELP TWO OF THE VERY NICEST PEOPLE ON THE PLANET WITH A RENTAL?
Monday, March 11, 2013
I had the pleasure of meeting Carrie Tice and her brother John Kelly when he was struggling hard in his fight with cancer. These are two of the very kindest, gentlest souls who have a team that should be a role model to many. A sister standing by her very sick brother and helping him with means to afford travel to and from for his chemo/radiation etc. They did it with grace, no complaining, and God allowing, John seems to be doing okay, yet still frail. There are on a VERY tight budge and are looking for a rental...and here is a letter from Carrie....
this is carrie tice, sister of john kelly--a fan who you helped out with a donation from coe's list so he could get to and from cancer treatments. thankfully, he's still in remission. I am the one asking how i can find a place we can rent/buy. we are both on disability, so we're looking for a place 1 or 2 bedroom--with paying from 550 to 800 monthly. if you or any of your listeners know of anything, call me (carrie) at 928-432-9451. god bless!!!! thank you for being there
Please, if anyone can help with a guest cottage, mobile home, etc...please contact them asap. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

What you SEE may NOT actually BE ...The Story of a very proud man
Thursday, March 7, 2013
KGBERS...I live for moments like this...where goodness, kindness, and the act of actual concern unfolds as a beautiful story that is so much more than what one would think. Today, I hope you take the time to really say "hello" to someone, and maybe take a moment to read what REALLY may be going on inside someones life. Behind a smile may be loneliness, fear, despair, or...simple gratitude for what one already has, though it may not be much. We have lost this grace somehow. Be the change, let it start here...and enjoy a note Bob's fiancee shared. So touching...so human...so important...
I'd like to share a post that my beautiful fiance Carrie shared yesterday on Facebook. It's a bit long, but trust me, it's worth the read! - Bob
"So this AM, I stopped at my new fave Starbucks in San Clemente, it's the easiest to get to, and the nicest :) And my same "new" friend, this nice 80+ year old man is sitting in his fave chair over by the condiment station like usual..& dressed to the hilt as usual :) And friendly as always, saying the most nice, complimentary things that are 100% un-offensive. Every morning I leave there I have a big smile on my face because of him!
Today for some small talk, I asked him if he lived close by, and he nodded and said yes, I asked if he just walked there every morning -and he said yes. And then he pointed outside, and said see that car, I looked and pointed at a big truck -cuz from where I was standing, that was all I could see, and he said, no, not the truck, the... car behind it. I saw it and nodded, and he said "that's where I live" with a smile.. I didn't know how to reply, cuz I thought he was kidding. Then he said, "I live in there, and get up and 4am every day, and come in here where it's a little warmer and more comfortable....and have a bagel and some coffee every day". So at that point, I knew he was serious and was stumped w/words. I thought of a quick reply, & said, well how nice that you are able to come in here and enjoy your morning. He nodded and smiled. Not a worry in his heart. I wished him a great day, as I always do.
When I drove off I slowed as I went by his car, to peer in, and sure enough a big blanket was rolled up in the front seat, along w/a long close rack of all his nice clothes he wears daily in the back seat. That’s all I could see from my side…. :( Every time I leave this Starbucks I have a smile on my face because of him…and today was much different. It truly broke my heart.
Isn’t it funny how first impressions are so different from the real story all depending on how someone looks and presents themselves. I already had his story figured out! I figured out he lived by the beach there, was widowed and every morning took a walk to Starbucks to have his daily coffee and people watch for fun. Funny how wrong I was! So far from the truth. Now of course, for some reason, I want to know more about him, and how he ended up here.
I think next time I see him I will ask how long he has been living in his car. Is that wrong?
I also want to buy him a Starbucks gift card or something...
He kind of reminds me of my father for some reason. Or someone I just want to know.
Looking at him you would never guess he lived in a car, by his appearance and his kind words. These are the moments in life that make you realize how not everyone has what we are blessed with. And they are not out there begging for you to help. Making you want to give even more...
It's odd how you can be drawn to certain people for certain reasons. :)"

Yesterday, I witnessed a dog in desperate need of help and I cannot get him out of my mind. I'm not personally able to take him in. Can you help?
Chuckie lives in horrible conditions on a short chain in a corner of a backyard in Romoland with no shelter or shade. Chuckie is a large rednose pit bull who is 4 years old and not neutered. He is people friendly and has not bitten anyone, but living on the end of a chain 24/7 is a traumatic experience, and he will need rescue and rehab to get him ready for adoption.
His sad eyes and his pitiful cries are not something to ignore. We need to help get him out of there ASAP. Owner is willing to rehome him. Please network to save this dog from this inhumane life.
Contact: Bettye Campbell, Rescue and Rehome, Quail Valley/Menifee, rescueandrehome1@gmail.com or 951 244-3215.
Please help find missing dog in Point Loma. My little lab mix Benson, who was at foster Kim's house in Point Loma. He went missing from 4200 block of Coronado Avenue on Sunday night. Please keep eyes out!!! Spread the word.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A RENTAL...FOR YOU AND YOUR CRITTERS?
Monday, February 11, 2013
My friend Teidi sent me this as a potential home for animals accepted for a rental:
Hi, Neighbors.
We have a cute little rental house on Wall Place in Crest, with pine paneling and a fine wood-burning stove, a bedroom with a sunporch/sewing room/ nursery off it, and another really small bedroom. Nice room off the kitchen serves as a dining room, or kid's playroom or office. Also a storage building which has been used as a guest bedroom. No garage, but a small workshop with and washer & dryer hookups. Big, fenced back yard. The current tenants will be leaving by the first of March, but I will need time to spruce up the place and put in new carpet before I show it. And you know what a good community and school and churches and library we have here! It is perfect for a couple or couple with child. The rent $1200 a month. (It has not been increased in years. But it may have to be if I hire a management company.) I'm just mentioning this to you because you know so many people up here who may have reliable friends who would like to live here and would take good care of our little cottage.
Hey KGBERS...sprintime is fast approaching, and that means people and organizations are out there in force doing GOOD THINGS. Tell me about it! Send me info or flyer about your place/event/organization and I will do my very best to put it on Coe's List. Just email me at coe@101kgb.com or mail to Coe's List c/o KGB 9660 Granite Ridge Drive, San Diego, CA 92123
LET'S CHANGE THE WORLD... ONE PERSON, ONE ANIMAL, ONE DAY AT A TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!
I NEED YOUR HELP BADLY WITH ANIMALS. I NEED YOU THIS TIME
Friday, February 1, 2013
Hi KGBERS...I would like to get some listener support for the following item. I get calls, emails, fb's all the time asking for DESPERATE help for animal situations. They range from temp homes to permanent homes. I am looking for people who would help answer the call for such an urgent need. People are going through enough day to day trauma...and their pets are their children. Sometimes it only means fostering for 2 wks or maybe 6 mos...until a situation gets back in control. Or, worse, someone has lost their home, and evil landlords don't accept pets. Please, please be a hero to someone, and give them help in this area. Many people will pay for all expenses, and if push comes to shove, and you are struggling, I will see if I can offer assistance. Animals bring peace and tranquility and healing to many. Please don't let someone lose that treasure as well. Please email me at coe@101kgb.com and when a need arises, I have a resource to turn to
THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME HANDLE THE STRESS. THANK YOU THANK YOU

Hi KGBers...I am reaching out to see if someone can help our listener with transmission issues. Can you be an AUTO ANGEL? reach out to him at aefdgr@juno.com or at 858-231-0019

>>Subject: female navy veteran desperatly needs help
>>
>>Good morning coe,
>>As i stated above i a female navy veteran due to an expected financial mishap i am in dire need of some help. The veterans affairs recouped the loss of 900.00 from my disability check this month for a failed class when i was using my gi bill. I did not know this was going to happen before it happened. This recouping of funds left me w /o rent money of 500.00. & payment of my phone bill 25.00. I was only able to pay half my phone bill. I am not looking for a handout. I will work for every dime. My only problem is i need these funds by friday, saturday at the latest. Can you please help. I was a homeless veteran before i found this place two months ago. I slept in my car. Now i dont even have my car so if i was to loose this place i would be out on the streets again. I am begging for some help. I would not survive out on the street with my post traumatic stress disorder. I will do what ever it takes to earn this money. I just cant become homeless again.
Hey KGBERS..there are openings right here at Clear Channel San Diego...read below!
Hello Everyone …
Attached are the current job openings here at CCSD. Postings are always current at www.clearcareers.com, and all cover letters and resumes should be sent to givemeajob@clearchannel.com. Thanks! ;-)
This is about my Granddaughter Taylor, who just like me is the most avid PITBULL lover you can imagine. Taylor is now 13yrs old and was born with a form of Muscular Dystrophy called SMA or Spinal Muscular Atrophy. She has never been able to walk and has been in a wheelchair since she was a little girl. Taylor is the most amazing little girl and I'm not saying this because she is my granddaughter. She is always looking at the bright side of life, never without a smile on her face. She is an honor student and never complains about the many things we take for granted. She has spent time actively raising funds for MS and other children in need...and I am so proud of her...Just like me she loves dogs and helps with strays in her community of Winston Salem North Carolina. Tammy, Rocky and Duncan who are all Bully rescues are her best friends and Tammy even helps pull Taylor in her wheelchair. Taylor will give you a mouth full if she even thinks you might not be caring for your dog. If she sees a dog in need she does her best to help.
In her 13 years she has endured more than nine excruciating painful back surgeries, beginning with rods on each side of her spine for support and extensions added at the base of her neck as her body grows. Kids with SMA will suffocate without these surgeries because their spines cannot support their bodies and it crushes their lungs. Every 6-8 years as her body grows she needs a bigger power wheelchair so she can get around. She goes to public school and takes the school bus. This power chair takes the place of her legs. Unlike California there is very little funds available for handicapped Children in her area. Her new wheelchair costs thousand of dollars and the family insurance will pay for all but about $6500 for the deductible which friends and family members are trying to raise. Please forward this to other animal lovers who might want to donate to this very needy cause and to a little girl who cares so much about people and abandoned dogs.
There is a link below to Fundrazr.com and I have added pictures of my very sweet girl and her three Bully buddies. I am deeply grateful to anyone who can give a small amount to get Taylor a new Power Wheelchair.
Hey sweet friends...since Coe's List is on it's way (fingers crossed) to becoming a non-profit..I am NOT good at asking for assistance etc...so I had a great idea. Do you have any cheap/creative fundraising ideas I could ponder and possibly put to use? Would you consider Coe's List as a potential beneficiary?? I would appreciate everything and anything...all for the betterment of you..of animals, of unsung groups doing important work...you get it. Coe's List was created FOR you. Please send me your thoughts and ideas to: coe@101kgb.com
Thanks all...I love you for it....and let's make 2013 huge!! :0)
Hi friends...it has been a couple of weeks since we last spoke. Happy to "get after it" this year and see where and how our amazing listeners will grace us each and everyday. Coe's List sure could use some $$$ to help others again this year as Coe's XMAS LIST pretty much wiped us out helping those in desperate situations... And, we always need doctors, dentists and other professionals to help our listeners who aren't working, have no insurance etc. Please know that however you help ...it will go to people, organizations, and animals that deserve help. I research and I know the situations first hand. I do not take this lightly...and am excited to let you know Coe's List will soon be a non profit...Yipppeee!! This is not easy, but with your help, we can change lives. Thank you again and let's make miracles happen in SD for 2013!
The final Coe's XMAS list recipient is the father of a family who have lost everything, home, belongings, etc. and they are currently living in a motel!!!! This just isn't right. He is a mover by trade and will do anything for work....please this Christmas...make a miracle for his family. Kirk Clarke 619-674-6848 or his wife Tiffany 619-847-4920 GOD BLESS!

A KGBER WHO HAS HELPED COE'S LIST NEEDS YOUR HELP DESPERATELY!
Thursday, November 15, 2012
Hi Coe, its Lori from KNIGHT TERMITE..... I NEED YOUR HELP SO VERY BAD THAT I'M LITERALLY IN TEARS HERE.
On SATURDAY, 10/27/2012, while at my daughters golf tournament at SUN VALLEY GOLF COURSE ..... I FELL DOWN A STEEP INCLINE AND BROKE MY ANKLE IN 3 PLACES. I broke the tibia, but worse is the component that connects the tibia & fibula together, was FACING UPWARDS AND BACKWARDS, to boot ..... I managed to strip the ligaments on my fibula. DEVASTATED and IMMOBILE - I can not do any ACTIVITY or put any PRESSURE AT ALL on my leg for 12 WEEKS.
So NO WORK, NO INCOME, NO MEDICAL INSURANCE, NO FREEDOM, NO HOUSEHOLD CAPABILITIES and it's awful.
I would love to go to work, but I can't get up the stairs. I have to apply for State Disability which could take up to 45 days and you're not guaranteed to be approved. Even if I am, the payment is like $150/wk. AND my rent is $550, water $30, cable/internet/phone $150, SDGE $80, car insurance $100, not to mention food, gas, etc..... THIS SUCKS!
HOWEVER; there is this new walking apparatus called a KNEE WALKING SCOOTER. It has 4 wheels, handbrakes, about 6" wide x 10" long and has a groove built in specially for people who have limitations with their legs/knees or ankles. You literally put your knee at the front and go
of the seat, and use your other leg too scoot around, especially in tight areas, and i'll send a picture. Pretty clever aye?
My rented house has steps and using one of those ugly bulky granny silver walkers with the tennis balls DOES NOT WORK. In fact i've almost fallen twice tonite.
COULD YOU ASK YOUR LISTENERS ....... IF ANYONE HAS ONE OF THESE THEY'D BE WILLING TO RENT TO ME FOR $30.00 A MONTH? I wish I could ask if someone would loan me theirs and I'll return it in the same condition by February, but I feel awkward. I found a place down the road, but they want a $250.00 DEPOSIT and it rents by the month for $75.00 a MONTH. I don't have a credit card for the deposit (which they just hold and return after 1 month).
This would help me so much if I could borrow one till the end of January, if not sooner. I'm going to be 45 at the end of this month and this is the first bone breakage ever, and I don't wish it on anyone, (well maybe 1 or 2 people) lol.
As you I donated $250.00 of pest control to a family of 6, for Coe's List and now I really need help. So I'm hoping that a good deed might deserve someone's good deed, and I am PRAYING SOMEONE OUT THERE LISTENING TO KGB and THE BEST FEMALE DJ IN OUR COUNTY has listeners that can help me.
For now I'm wearing ONE OF HERMAN MUNTERS' BOOTS, the black boot with the metal bottom that weighs about 7 lbs. Like a CINDER BLOCK HANGING FROM MY KNEE and it's painful to hop around and sleep.
HERE'S MY INFO:
My name is Lori Hebert, and I live in El Cajon, Ca
45 years old and a single mom of a 12 yr old daughter who aspires to play with the women in the LPGA
Will take care of the walker and will return it in the condition it was given/loaned to me. Will even sign a written agreement to return in the same condition, and if I fault on the agreement, legal action may be taken by your listener.
My cell # (619) 804-8196. I'm able to drive too meet and talk with your listener.
This is my favorite time of the year, the HOLIDAYS. Now Im not able too cook, decorate my home for my daughter, shop for gifts (b/c I don't have an income), give gifts to my family, and it makes for a CRAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON if I end up hopping with a granny walker, and it's painful truthfully.
SO, OBVIOUSLY I'LL BE HOME UNTIL the END OF JANUARY 2013, so I hope tons of your loyal listeners are able to come through for me and my daughter, Morgan, that would be a CHRISTMAS I could at least try to enjoy. If not, well I wish you and your family the most beautiful of holiday seasons
Del Mar Fairgrounds -- People and animals in-need will find a helping paw at "Project Homeless Connect" on Wednesday, November 14 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. In addition to haircuts, health testing, legal services, shelter options, and dental and mental health screenings for people courtesy of the Alliance for Regional Solutions, Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) will distribute food and supplies for their pets and the Drake Center for Veterinary Care will provide medical exams and vaccinations.
"People get a mental image of a homeless man, sitting alone, on the sidewalk," says RCHS spokesman John Van Zante. "But San Diego's homeless include women, children, and pets. At least 10% of them have pets. And no matter how hard these people struggle to survive, they seem to put their pets ahead of themselves." RCHS Community Liaison Nick Winfrey notes, " The goal of Project Homeless Connect is to link displaced individuals and families with onsite services, information, referrals, and food. Our RCHS volunteers will care for their pets while the owners get the help they need. As an extension of our Community Pet Food Bank, RCHS we'll distribute food and other supplies. The Drake Center for Veterinary Care will provide exams and vaccinations as part of our effort to keep people and their pets together." Van Zante adds, "Their pets may be their only family for displaced and homeless people. Project Homeless Connect will not only tend to their immediate needs, but also provide resources for the future care of these people and their pets."
Project Homeless Connect will take place from 9 AM to 4 PM on Wednesday, November 14 in the lower grandstand at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
For more information visit Rancho Coastal Humane Society at 389 Requeza Street in Encinitas, call 760-753-6413, or log on to www.sdpets.org.

NO PET NEEDS TO MISS THANKSGIVING DINNER THIS YEAR
With Thanksgiving just one week away, Rancho Coastal Humane Society in is reminding seniors living on fixed incomes, the working poor, people with disabilities or terminal illnesses, and the homeless that their pets DO NOT have to miss Thanksgiving dinner. The RCHS Community Pet Food Bank will be open this Saturday, November 17. Homeless and financially disadvantaged pet owners are invited to pick up free pet food and other supplies from 9:00 to 11:00 at 389 Requeza Street in Encinitas.
"These people share everything with their pets," says RCHS Community Liaison, Nick Winfrey. "In the past, if they got one Thanksgiving meal, you can bet their dog or cat got part of it. Maybe even the first bite. Not this year. The Community Pet Food Bank at RCHS is here to help."
RCHS spokesman John Van Zante says that sharing Thanksgiving meals with pets is not a good idea. "First, the owners deprive themselves. And second, the turkey, mashed potatoes, and other foods are too rich for a dog or cat. We know they share everything, but in this case, let the RCHS Community Pet Food Bank help to keep you and your pet healthy."
Winfrey adds, "New clients can come to the Pet Food Bank this Saturday morning, fill out an application and tell us what they need, then we'll provide them with two weeks of food for their pet. Existing clients just need to check in and give us any updates about their pets. We're not here to judge. We're here to help people and their pets to stay together."
In addition to dog and cat food, the RCHS Community Pet Food Bank also has leashes and collars, blankets, flea treatment, pet toys and other supplies.
The Community Pet Food Bank at RCHS is open the first and third Saturdays of the month from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at 389 Requeza Street in Encinitas. Donations to the Community Pet Food Bank can be made any time. For more information visit RCHS, log on to www.sdpets.org, or call Nick Winfrey at 760-753-6413 x 104.
I'M OUTTA MONEY...BUT MY BEST FRIEND'S STILL HUNGRY
Tuesday, November 6, 2012
Encinitas, CA -- Seniors living on fixed incomes, the working poor, people with disabilities or terminal illnesses, and the homeless will benefit when Rancho Coastal Humane Society expands the services of its Community Pet Food Bank starting Saturday, November 3. Homeless and financially disadvantaged pet owners are invited to pick up free pet food and other supplies during the Grand Opening from 9:00 to 11:00 Saturday morning at 389 Requeza Street in Encinitas.
"These are people who have so little, yet share everything they have with their pets," says RCHS Community Liaison, Nick Winfrey. "RCHS has been providing pet food for needy people for quite some time. Now it's time to increase our efforts."
RCHS spokesman John Van Zante relates the story of a homeless girl who was asked why she didn't give up her dog. "She said she had been homeless four months, and that her dog was her only source of support and stability. She said she would 'lose it' if it wasn't for her dog."
Winfrey adds, "Pets give unconditional love and a sense of normalcy for someone living on the streets, on a fixed income, or the working poor. Homeless shelters are not equipped to take pets so their owners stay on the street, share their meals, or go without food so their pets can eat." The National Coalition for the Homeless says many homeless pet owners avoid veterinary care because they're afraid they won't get their pets back. The Drake Center for Veterinary Care in Encinitas will join the Community Pet Food Bank at RCHS to offer free examinations and vaccinations for the dogs and cats of clients during the grand opening.
Winfrey explains, "We'll have leashes and collars, blankets, flea treatment, and more. RCHS has received lots of donations, but this problem is not going away anytime soon. We're asking people to give until if feels good."
The Community Pet Food Bank at RCHS will be open two Saturdays per month from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at 389 Requeza Street in Encinitas. Donations to the Community Pet Food Bank can be made any time. For more information visit RCHS, log on to www.sdpets.org, or call Nick Winfrey at 760-753-6413 x 104.

MUSIC IS IMPORTANT...ESPECIALLY FOR THE KIDS...CAN YOU HELP???
Tuesday, October 2, 2012
Good morning Coe,I listen to your show every morning, and amazed at the response you get from listeners when you do Coe's list,so I am writing to you in hopes that you could get the word out.My daughter's school was fortunate enough to have a music class this year but due to the budget cuts they unfortunately don't have enough instruments for the children to take home and practice with.I posted on Craigslist in hopes to get a violin donated to my daughter so she could practice at home,I have had no response. Thank You Stephanie Lheureux [htstff20044@sbcglobal.net]
My friend Bobbi has rescued animals from the Ohio animal collector (who took his life) only after he released his animals into the wild to fend for themselves, as well as countless other circuses, personal pets, sideroad zoos....etc. Bobbi and Mark Brink save the cases that seem impossible...and now we have Meatball! They rescue and give these animals a wonderful "ever after" with their nonprofit sanctuary...
Hi Coe We desperately or should I say Meatball needs your help....Have you been following the story of Meatball the Glendale Bear?....We took him in good faith to hold him and transport him to another Sanctuary in Colorado not knowing it was illegal for the Colorado sanctuary to take him and the state of CA has said the bear can not leave CA...CA actually owns any wild bears in CA and they have the final say.
So, we need to quick raise funds to build him a proper habitat...Is that something you might be able to help with on air? He has a huge following....SDG&E has committed to the posts and delivering them. We need to find a company with a Boom Truck to drill and put them in. Then of course we need to build him a small pool he loves water, a safety lock down and the fencing...We can do giveaway what ever ideas you have...so, we can raise the much needed funds to get this done??
The best way to get me is on my cell of course 619-884-2053 Hopefully you can help us to help Meatball?? Bobbi

So...I decided to try making a competition out of it by challenging the menfolk... Here's what I mean - Holly's Garden consists of Sue, Kathy (her trusty assistant) and Will. During the week Sue & Kathy carry on Sue's long time cleaning company, while Will looks after the dogs. The GIRLS are out in public and have plenty of chances to solicite donations, while he's on a short leash at the rescue! I chose Will as the team member to support, since he was lagging so far behind.
That's when I thought - what about all those golfing, surfing, poolshooting, football supporting, guys I know? Wouldn't they like to see a guy win over the girls...and all for a good cause? (and there may still be some people in this town who need tax write-offs) So I thought I'd give it a try...here's the link...let's see if we can shoot Will over the top! (he would be soooo surprised! http://www.strutyourmutt.org/team/hgr
One of the most extraordinary groups in town are the HORSES OF TIR NA NOG and the force behind them....Amy Pat Rigney...This group helps horses and rescues them...from lives of abuse, abandonment, neglect, etc. and with the help of SD County Animal Services...HOTNN were able to come to the rescue of some horribly neglected mustangs. Mustangs require different needs than most, and they need space to recover and heal as well as fatten up! Hi Coe. This was on the ABC7 News this afternoon up in Riverside, Hemet area. It's the TIER (True Innocents Equine Rescue). They are being foreclosed on by Chase Bank on August 29th. Many homes need to be found. There are currently 34 horses and donkeys there but they will need to find homes as soon as possible or face the possibility of going to slaughter. I know this isn't the type of rescue I normally do but over the past year and a half I've gotten involved in rescuing horses from the feedlot in Nevada (last stop before the Mexican or Canadian slaughterhouse), and transporting them to equine rescues throughout the state and southwest region. This just gets to me that they can be seen as a commodity. Thanks again
One of my heroes on earth is Bobbi Brink, founder and visionary force behind LIONS, TIGERS, AND BEARS in East County. This woman and her husband Mark have dedicated their lives torescuing, saving, rehabilitating, and giving exotic pets another chance at life. They swoop in and rescue animals like tigers and lions who crazy people thought would make great pets, only to neglect them, abuse them, and confine them in small rusty, disgusting and unlivable conditions... the atrocities would make you lose sleep. I guarantee you. Yet the blackmarket for these pets continues with stupid people making selfish decisions that wreak so much damage to animals it makes you sick. So on this earth we have LTB's who day in and day out accomplishes amazing feats of love and this massive undertaking is done with humility and grace.
THEY NEED YOU......please reach them at www.lionstigersandbears.org and make a difference in these animals lives....WE NEED YOU....... THANK YOU

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is posing a challenge to animal shelters and the Escondido Humane Society has accepted it.
The ASPCA $100K Challenge is a nationwide competition that seeks out help from the community. People are encouraged to visit their local shelter and adopt an animal and this year, the only shelter in San Diego County to take part in this great cause is the Escondido Humane Society (EHS).
“We are the first and only San Diego County shelter to compete in the ASPCA $100K Challenge,” said Katie Woolsey, public relations coordinator for the society, in an email to Patch. “EHS is one of 49 shelters participating nationwide, and the organization that achieves the greatest increase in lives saved will receive a $100,000 grant from the ASPCA.”
Here's how it works: from Aug. 1 to Oct. 31, the EHS and other participating shelters will compete to find homes for 33 percent more cats and dogs than it did during the same period in 2011.
“We thought the challenge would be a wonderful motivator for our team and local residents and businesses to get involved and to help us connect the hundreds of adoptable dogs and cats in our shelter with the right families,” Woolsey said.
So how can you help? It's simple. If you've been tossing around the idea of adding to your family and have a huge love for all-things furry, visit the EHS from Aug. 1 to Oct. 31 and take a look at the animals they have up for adoption. Puppy eyes are hard to ignore.
“The biggest way the public can help is by opening their hearts and homes to our animals by adopting,” Woolsey said. “We have set a goal of 1,500 adoptions over the three-month challenge, and we’ll really need our community’s help to reach that goal.”
To help spread the word, EHS is kicking off this challenge on Aug. 1 with a “Furry Friendzy” Adopt-a-Thon at the shelter. The EHS will be open for 12 hours that day, from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. and adoption fees for all dogs and cats will be waived.
“The first 25 adopters will receive goodie bags,” Woolsey said. “There also are activities are planned throughout the day, including Starbucks coffee at 8 a.m., a pet disaster preparedness presentation at 11 a.m., an 'Ask the Vet' session at 1:30 p.m., an opportunity drawing, food from 4 to 8 p.m. and live music by Hot Pursuit Music Entertainment at 7 p.m.”

Annually a large group of friends converge at The Flinn Springs Inn for a reunion to celebrate our continued friendship. Our turn out is usually around 100 people. Marie Snow is the originator of this event and last year
decided to make it a fund raiser for animal rescue shelters. Our event is taking place on June 30th, 2012 this year.
Each year we choose a shelter that is privately ran and is great need of donations to continue operating. In
addition to collecting donations at the door Marie came up with the idea to have a raffle. However, in order to
make the raffle attractive we need prizes to be donated and we are reaching out to our community businesses.
This year we have chosen the Lucky Pup Rescue located here in San Diego. It is privately owned and operated by Christine and Steve Haslet. Christine and Steve rescue homeless and abandon dogs from DEVORE Shelter in San Bernardino County, a place with a 25% adoption rate. A very high and quick killshelter, one of the worst shelters in all of California. They transport them to San Diego, where they receive medical care (most have kennel cough and virtually all need spay/neuters) They provide a safe, happy place for them to become healthy, more socialized, they are vaccinated, micro-chipped, de-wormed and flea treatments. When they are stable, they are moved to foster homes (WE NEED FOSTER HOMES BAD!! ) Sometimes it takes up to 3 to 4 months to find the perfect home. We use Adopt A Pet, Petfinder, Social networking, the internet, Neighborhood adoption events to market the dogs to find them homes. They are always in need of donations of money, safe dog toys, gift cards to Petco and Costco for food. They need foster homes from people who can promise to keep the pups for at least 3 months...or until they are adopted.
We are asking for any contribution that you can make to help our fund raising event a successful venture for the Lucky Pup Rescue. We are asking for prizes or cash. When we collect enough cash
we will then purchase items to raffle off.
You can visit their website at www.luckypuprescue.com. A receipt for your contribution is available for tax purposes. We really appreciate anything you can contribute.
They are a California non profit dog rescue CA #3400209, EIN 90-0753223.

Hi CoCo,
RCHS operates the "Animal Safehouse Program" that we began in 1997. ASP provides temporary housing for the pets of Domestic Violence victims. Here's a link to the website: http://rchumanesociety.org/programs/safehouse.asp
Also....attached is a story about ASP that I wrote for San Diego Pets Magazine.
Shelters for abuse victims can accept the victims and children...but not their pets. So the human victims often stay rather than allowing their pets to become the victims. ASP works with agencies that provide services for domestic violence victims.
The pets come to RCHS then go to foster care. After 30 days we work with the agency to reevaluate the situation. If the human victim is able to reclaim their pet, that's what happens. If they can't take back their pet, they surrender it to RCHS so we can find it a forever home.
I'm copying Amy Heflin on this. Amy is the Director of ASP. Also Jim Silveira....President of RCHS.
