Spoiler alert! NBC has apologized for reporting Olympic results in a more timely manner than it intended to.
It happened Monday night, when NBC was preparing to show U.S. swimmer Missy Franklin's win in the 100 backstroke -- a race from earlier in the day.
Going to a break, NBC ran a "Today" show promo for a Tuesday morning piece on Franklin and what it was like winning her first gold medal. Oops!
"Clearly that promo should not have aired at that time," an NBC Sports spokesperson said in a statement, EW.com reports. "This will not happen again. We apologize to viewers who were watching and didn't know the result of the race."
